Remains

What Remains? What remains of passing moments? After an intimate touch? After Loss? What remains is explored through the elusive memory of touch: while intense, it is torn away quickly, yet the fragments remain familiar. We may forget its details, but not its presence.

Fragments inhabit us after loss; with the impossibility of tracing each of them back, they come together into something new, in their uneasy union, identity emerges.

​

We carry these remains within us, and through them, those who are absent participate in our becoming.

​

The technique is a metaphor. Impressions of body parts are cast from fabric; they inevitably distort with each tear and fold. As they are assembled into a union, a new presence can emerge.
